30th April 2012 | Lilliput Kayathlon

After the very successful Kayathlon on St. Patrick’s day here at Lilliput, several participants and non participants who missed the event have asked for another training day to be arranged to prepare for the Lilliput Legend.  With this in mind we have organised a Kayathlon on Sunday the 27th of May at 10:30 a.m. in Lilliput.  The usual refreshments will be provided along with boats and equipment been available.  You can register on or by contacting Franky on (087) 810 6951.  This race will be a little bit longer to get you closer to the Lilliput Legend distances, not “a lot” “a little”.

26th April 2012 | Kathryn Thomas Signs up for Lilliput Legend!!

Kathryn Thomas of  The Voice of Ireland has generously given up her time on the 7th of July to take part in the Lilliput Legend.  She is thrilled to be supporting the Share a Dream Foundation and is looking forward to the after party/fundraiser which will see The Voice of Ireland contestants Conor, Nollaig, Pat and possibly others performing, to raise money to allow dreams to come true for all the brave children that we can help.  Trish and I are so thrilled that Katherine has agreed to take part in this event.  Having been in her company on Sunday night after the semi’s of the voice, we cannot wait to welcome her to Mullingar.  Mullingar watch out, she is a lively chick.

She is entering in the Kick Ass 65 km event and after all her fitness and dietary tips from the Operation Transformation team, she will fly it.

Thanks Katherine!

On Saturday, 25th February, 6 yr old Dylan Steele became a Garda for the day, at the Ireland v Italy international rugby match.  The SHARE A DREAM FOUNDATION made it possible for Dylan to direct traffic, check motor tax, check out supporters and rub shoulders with Ireland’s best rugby players including Johnny Sexton, Paul O’Connell and others.

It was a fantastic experience for Dylan, really well done “SHARE A DREAM TEAM”

Course Design

This course is designed by Franky Wright who has worked in the provision of outdoor education for over 30 years.  Along with his wife Trish, he currently runs the Lilliput Adventure Centre.  He was accompanied by his climbing partner and good friend Paul Mc Quaid.  They have both climbed mountains all over the world and are the current holders of the record for climbing the highest peak in every county in Ireland, 5 days.  Paul is the Director of Paramedic training in Sydney Hospital and has been adventure racing in Australia for almost 10 years.  Gerry McQuaid an accomplished runner and coach who studied in the states, also offered his expertise.  Gerry most recently coached the Wexford senior & intermediate ladies camogie team to an historic All Ireland double.  He currently teaches PE in Waterford.

Celebrities Taking Part

Gerry Duffy of 32 marathons in 32 days is racing.  He is also the current decaman champion and the “Westmeath Sports Person” of the year.  No doubt all eyes will be on Gerry as he takes on another, in his unending list of challenges.
